0136 GMT - Samsung Electronics is set to post above-consensus 4Q earnings led by its memory-chip segment, Hana Securities analyst Roko Kim writes in a note. Kim expects the South Korean tech giant's operating profit to almost triple on year to KRW18.3 trillion for the October-December period, thanks to higher DRAM and NAND product prices. Samsung's memory-chip segment is likely to account for more than 80% of the total earnings, as he estimates the segment's 4Q operating profit will be KRW15.4 trillion, up 97% from a year earlier. Demand for data-server chips is strong as the supply of other chips used in smartphones and personal computers remains tight, he says. (kwanwoo.jun@wsj.com)
