Regulatory Progress Could Lead to More Durable Crypto Recovery in Long Run -- Market Talk

Dow Jones12-19

1338 GMT - Recent regulatory progress for digital assets could encourage a more durable recovery of cryptocurrencies over time, TP ICAP digital assets sales director Hina Sattar Joshi says. The U.S. Office of the Comptroller of the Currency's approvals for crypto firms pursuing national bank charters and the U.K.'s plan to bring cryptoassets into a formal regulatory framework make it easier for asset managers and corporations to participate, she says. This lowers barriers to institutional entry and increases the odds that any future crypto rally will be more sustainable, she says. "Expect volatility in the near term, but the evolving institutional plumbing and clearer rules of the road are positive for crypto's long-term market maturation." (renae.dyer@wsj.com)
