Malaysia's Consumer Sector Likely to Continue Gaining From Tourists -- Market Talk

Dow Jones12-19

0656 GMT - Malaysia's consumer sector is likely to continue benefiting from tourism-driven spending, MBSB Research analysts write in a report. Steady tourist arrivals are likely to keep supporting consumer-facing segments, particularly fast-moving consumer goods, convenience retail, and casual dining restaurants. Higher footfall at airports, shopping malls, and key tourist destinations should also lead to more demand for bottled beverages, packaged foods and impulse purchases. MBSB Research maintains a positive rating on Malaysia's consumer sector, pegging Mr. D.I.Y. Group (M), AEON Co. (M) and Leong Hup International as its top picks.(amanda.lee@wsj.com)
