UPS-owned (UPS) reverse logistics firm Happy Returns is testing its AI fraud detection tool with several retailers ahead of a broader rollout targeted in 2026, the firm said.
The tool, named Return Vision, assists in spotting 'return fraud,' where a customer ships back a cheaper item in the refund process, Happy Returns said. The tool is trained to catch what a human might miss, such as incorrect or missing logos, the company added.
Under 1% of returns processed by Happy Returns are flagged by the AI tool as high probability of being fraud, the company said.
