BOE Rate Cuts Should Boost Gilts, U.K. Equities -- Market Talk

Dow Jones12-18 21:00

1300 GMT - The Bank of England is expected to continue cutting interest rates following Thursday's 25 basis-point rate cut and this is expected to lead to lower gilt yields, HSBC Asset Management's Hussain Mehdi says in a note. "Given the high starting point for gilt yields, we see room for gilts to do well in 2026." Lower BOE rates are also likely to support U.K. stocks, Mehdi says. "Further BOE rate cuts could help maintain positive momentum in a market that continues to trade at a record valuation discount relative to other regions." (miriam.mukuru@wsj.com)
