1252 ET - Lennar's Co-Chief Executive Stuart Miller says on the analyst call that the housing turnaround he had hoped for has not yet materialized "as rates slowly moderated in September, eased more in October, and remained flat in November." He adds that the customer response remained tepid, "suggesting that a combination of affordability and consumer confidence issues were continuing to limit demand." Meanwhile the recent government shutdown "further eroded already weak consumer confidence," Miller says. "While traffic was consistent, customers were both hesitant and limited by what they could afford to purchase." (nicholas.miller@wsj.com)
