Samsung Stands to Benefit From Longer Semiconductor Upcycle -- Market Talk
Dow Jones12-18
0051 GMT - Samsung Electronics stands to benefit from a longer-than-usual semiconductor upcycle that could last four to five years, HSBC analyst Ricky Seo writes in a note. Seo points to the chip maker's larger exposure to commodity memory products than its peers, amid rising chip prices. Also a good opportunity for Samsung will be an increased supply of high-bandwidth-memory products that could rise 2.4 times in 2026 and artificial-intelligence driven chip demand from cloud service providers, Seo says. Nomura raises its operating-profit forecasts for Samsung by 13% for 2026 and 5% for 2027.(kwanwoo.jun@wsj.com)
