Nikkei Edges 0.1% Lower, Tracking Losses Across Most U.S. Equity Markets -- Market Talk

Dow Jones12-17 08:20

0020 GMT - The Nikkei Stock Average gives up opening gains to edge 0.1% lower to 49336.22, tracking losses across most U.S. equity markets overnight. The U.S. employment report released Tuesday delivered a mixed signal, Sucden Financial's research team says in commentary. Investors appear to be cautious about extrapolating the data too much, and expectations for further Fed rate cuts continue to be pushed out, the team adds. Among worst performers on Japan's benchmark index, Eneos Holdings falls 3.3%, Shimizu Corp. sheds 2.55% and M3 Inc. loses 2.45%. USD/JPY is at 154.83, compared with 154.72 in New York late Tuesday.
