Malaysia's Positive Trade Momentum Likely to Continue in 2026 -- Market Talk
Dow Jones12-19
0805 GMT - Malaysia's positive trade momentum is likely to continue into 2026, but at a moderate pace, UOB economists say in a note. There are lingering concerns, such as U.S. sector-specific tariffs, a sharper global slowdown, commodity price volatility and renewed geopolitical tensions. However, the trade sector should benefit from tailwinds, including the ongoing artificial-intelligence sector, the economists say. UOB maintains a cautiously positive outlook for Malaysia's export sector, projecting exports to grow by 2.5% in 2026, lower than an estimated 6.0% growth in 2025. (amanda.lee@wsj.com)
