China Automotive Systems (CAAS) announced on Wednesday that its Hubei Henglong Automotive System unit has secured a contract for its column-assist electric power steering project for a new vehicle platform from an unnamed automotive manufacturer based in South America.
Financial terms weren't disclosed.
The vehicle platform will cover gasoline-fueled and hybrid passenger vehicle models, with an expected yearly sales volume of over 300,000 units, and mass production is anticipated to begin in early 2028, the company said.
