Contemporary Amperex Technology (SHE:300750, HKG:3750) is looking to push forward with its strategy of flooding the market with more and better batteries despite geopolitical threats, Bloomberg reported, citing founder Zeng Yuqun.
"That's why having a Plan B is a core part of our strategy," Bloomberg quoted Zeng as saying.
CATL is walking on thin ice in the markets it also seeks to enter.
In Europe, where it is building factories, governments are becoming wary about Chinese tech, and the U.S. has included the battery giant in a blacklist by the Pentagon, according to Bloomberg.
The founder also said chasing geopolitical changes could hurt CATL's operations, according to the report.
Shares fell 1% during late morning trading in Shenzhen and Hong Kong.
