Honda Motor (HMC) will acquire LG Energy Solution's facilities and other assets from their joint battery plant in Ohio for about $2.86 billion, multiple media outlets reported Wednesday.

The sale to Honda's US unit, Honda Development and Manufacturing of America, is expected to be finalized by the end of February 2026, the South Korean battery maker reportedly said in a regulatory filing.

LG is not planning to dissolve the joint venture or decrease its stake but plans to sell the assets to improve operational efficiency, a person familiar with the matter told Reuters.

The two companies did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment on the matter.
