NiSource's Northern Indiana Plant Ordered to Operate Past Planned 2025 Retirement for 90 Days

NiSource's (NI) Northern Indiana Public Service said Wednesday it has received a federal order that requires the R.M. Schahfer Generating Station to continue operating beyond its scheduled retirement on Dec. 31.

The company said the order will remain in effect for 90 days.

"We are reviewing the overall impact to our customers and company and will comply with this order, and any subsequent orders, if received," said Vince Parisi, NIPSCO's chief operating officer.
