Tesla CEO (TSLA) Elon Musk's SpaceX may receive 775 acres of a federal wildlife area in Texas under a possible land exchange, The New York Times reported Tuesday, citing internal documents.
The plan would let SpaceX improve its production operations in Cameron County in return for about 692 acres it owns elsewhere in the county, the newspaper reported.
Some of the land SpaceX would offer would be added to the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, the Times reported.
Conservationists and archaeologists have raised concerns about harm to endangered species habitat and potential impacts to parts of the Palmito Ranch Battlefield, according to the report.
SpaceX and the White House did not immediately respond to MT Newswires' request for comment.
