1623 ET - Limoneira has 700 acres of non-bearing avocados that it estimates will become full bearing over the next three to four years, enabling growth, the fresh-fruit producer says. Chief Executive Harold Edwards says the acreage is expected to nearly double Limoneira's avocado production capacity over the next three to four years. The company also plans to continue expanding planting avocado crops over the next two fiscal years. Limoneira has been trying to pivot away from lemons, which it sees as oversupplied, and towards avocados, which have more demand and stronger consumption growth potential, Edwards says.
