Liontown Resources (ASX:LTR) completed open-pit mining at the Kathleen Valley operations in Western Australia, marking the transition to a fully underground lithium operation, according to a Monday filing with the Australian bourse.
The final truckload of ore departed the Kathleen's Corner pit after three years of open pit mining, which provided material for construction of the run-of-mine pad and tailings storage facility, the filing said.
Ore from the open pit also enabled startup commissioning and ramp-up of the process plant, per the filing.
Shares rose nearly 5% in morning trade Monday.
