Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) unit Waymo has resumed its driverless ride-hailing service in the San Francisco Bay Area following blackouts that caused a service outage on Saturday, news outlets reported Sunday, citing the company.

"Yesterday's power outage was a widespread event that caused gridlock across San Francisco, with non-functioning traffic signals and transit disruptions," CNBC reported, citing a Waymo spokesperson. "The sheer scale of the outage led to instances where vehicles remained stationary longer than usual to confirm the state of the affected intersections."

The spokesperson said the company was committed to making certain that its technology "adjusts to traffic flow during such events."

Tesla (TSLA) Chief Executive Elon Musk said in a post on social media platform X that the electric vehicle maker's robotaxis were "unaffected" by the San Francisco power outage.
