Prudential Buys Back Shares

Prudential (SGX:K6S, HKG:2378) repurchased a total of 856,241 shares in London on Dec. 19, a Monday Hong Kong bourse filing said.

The shares were acquired under two separate arrangements with Merrill Lynch International.

Under the July 1 and Dec. 15 arrangements, the insurer repurchased 495,000 and 361,241 shares, respectively, at an average price of around 11.42 pounds sterling and 11.41 pounds sterling apiece.

The company intends to cancel the repurchased shares. Following the transaction, Prudential will have nearly 2.55 billion shares in issue.
