Financial stocks were leaning lower premarket Friday, with the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLF) slightly declining.

The Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) was down 0.1% and its bearish counterpart Direxion Daily Financial Bear 3X Shares (FAZ) was 0.1% higher.

KKR (KKR) stock was 0.2% lower pre-bell. KKR said Wednesday it has completed a tender offer to acquire 29.8 million common shares in Forum Engineering, representing a 55.89% stake in the company.

Ellington Financial (EFC) filed a shelf registration statement with the US Securities and Exchange Commission Tuesday for the potential sale of securities from time to time in one or more offerings. Ellington Financial shares were 0.1% higher pre-bell.
