Market Chatter: Tesla Set to Lose EV Sales Lead to China's BYD in 2025; Shares Down Pre-Bell

MT Newswires Live12-29 18:53

Tesla's (TSLA) electric vehicle sales are expected to reach 449,000 units in Q4, bringing its full-year sales to about 1.65 million units, down 7.7% year over year and well below the level achieved by Chinese auto giant BYD by the end of November, Agence France-Presse reported Monday, citing a FactSet analysis.

This would see BYD officially surpass Tesla as the world's biggest EV company in annual sales, according to the report.

At the end of November, BYD had sold 2.07 million EVs so far this year, the news outlet reported.

Tesla shares were down 1.5% in recent premarket activity.
