Shares of Evolution Mining (ASX:EVN) rose around 1%, while Northern Star Resources (ASX:NST) and Newmont (ASX:NEM) each fell about 1% in Monday trade after gold prices surged to a record high on strong safe-haven demand and growing expectations of further US Federal Reserve interest rate cuts.
Spot gold rose 0.5% to $4,501.44 per ounce on Dec. 26, after earlier hitting a record high of $4,530.60 in the session.
