PetroChina's (SHA:601857, HKG:0857) controlling shareholder, China National Petroleum Corp., acquired an additional 30 million China-listed shares in the company, according to a Monday Hong Kong bourse filing.
Hong Kong-listed shares of the oil and natural gas firm were up over 3% in Tuesday afternoon trading, while its Shanghai-listed shares edged up 2%.
CNPC's unit, Fairy King Investments, also purchased another 11.9 million Hong Kong-listed shares in the firm.
Following completion, CNPC holds 150.7 billion, or 82.35%, shares in PetroChina, comprising 150.4 billion directly-held China-listed shares and 303.4 million indirectly-held Hong Kong-listed shares.
