Coupang (CPNG) said Monday it will start a 1.685 trillion won ($1.18 billion) compensation program following a recent personal data breach.
The plan involves providing shopping credits to 33.7 million customer accounts beginning Jan. 15 through the mobile app, the company said.
Each affected individual will receive 50,000 won in total value regardless of whether they maintain an active membership, Coupang said.
The relief package contains one-time use certificates for retail goods, food delivery, travel bookings, and luxury items, it said.
Shares of the company were up by over 3% in recent Monday premarket activity.
