Rio Tinto Group's (ASX:RIO) shares inched up 0.1% in recent trading on Tuesday after Arizona Sonoran Copper said on Monday that Rio's venture, Nuton, and Arizona Sonoran mutually agreed to begin talks in January with respect to an amicable early termination of the option to joint venture agreement on the Cactus project.

Arizona Sonoran will continue to advance the project on a standalone basis. It also said it does not plan to provide any further updates regarding its discussions with Nuton until there is a definitive update.
