US Cash Grains-Corn, soy basis mixed amid slow movement

CHICAGO, Jan 6 (Reuters) - Spot basis bids for corn and soybeans were mixed in the U.S. Midwest on Tuesday as farmer selling remained slow, dealers said.

The announcement of payment rates for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Farmer Bridge Assistance program may have discouraged farmers from selling their crop.
Market players are waiting for the U.S. Department of Agriculture to issue key data on global supplies and demand on January 12. Among other data, they will examine quarterly U.S. grain and soy stocks as of December 1.
Soybeans moved higher after China's state stockpiler Sinograin bought 10 U.S. soybean cargoes this week, three traders told Reuters on Tuesday.
As of midday, CBOT March corn CH26 was up 1-1/2 cents to $4.46 a bushel, and March soybeans SH26 were up 1-1/4 cents to $10.63-1/4 a bushel.
