U.S. Natural Gas Futures Snap Losing Streak -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-08

1527 ET - U.S. natural gas futures rebound from five straight sessions of losses as weather models added some cold into the outlook for the second half of January. "The update was not incredibly impactful, but it was enough to lift HDD [heating degree day] expectations as we push deeper into the back half of January," Gelber & Associates says in a note. "With that late-month cold risk back in focus, near-term direction still looks tightly tied to whether the cooler signal can remain consistent run-to-run." Nymex natural gas settles up 5.2% at $3.525/mmBtu. (anthony.harrup@wsj.com)
