PTT Exploration & Production's 4Q Earnings Likely Lifted by Acquisition Gain -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-08

0653 GMT - PTT Exploration & Production's 4Q earnings are likely to be lifted by gains related to a recent buy, says DBS Group Research's Duladeth Bik in a note. The Thai petroleum producer's net profit for the quarter is expected at 17.75 billion baht, up 40% on quarter, given fair-value adjustments from the Touat gas-production project acquisition in September. However, the company's core performance was likely hit by lower average-selling prices stemming from a softer Dubai crude price benchmark, the analyst says. He expects limited upside to oil prices from the U.S.-Venezuela conflict, given that the global oil market is well-supplied elsewhere. DBS maintains its buy rating and THB169.00 target price on PTT Exploration & Production. Shares are up 0.5% at THB109.00.(megan.cheah@wsj.com)
