This situation is different from the oil sector.”For domestic use, the government allocated 3,908 BBTUD of natural gas. The largest share, totaling 2,091 BBTUD, was absorbed by downstream industries and the fertilizer sector, which remain heavily dependent on gas supplies for production and food security.In terms of lifting, Indonesia’s natural gas output in 2025 reached 951.8 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day (MBOEPD).However, this figure still fell short of the 2025 state budget target of 1.05 million MBOEPD, reflecting ongoing challenges in boosting upstream production capacity.Bahlil also highlighted weaker performance in non-tax state revenue from the oil and gas sector. In 2025, PNBP amounted to Rp105.04 trillion, or 83.7 percent of the Rp125.46 trillion target set in the state budget.According to Bahlil, the shortfall was largely driven by lower global oil prices.
