Caterpillar Vows to do More Training on Equipment Technology -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-08

1537 ET - Caterpillar is pledging $25 million over five years to train customers and their employees how to use the equipment maker's expanding suite of technology programs that the company is counting on to boost sales. "We have a ton of technology on our machines, but we have customers that don't know how to use it," CEO Joe Creed said during a presentation at the Consumer Electronics Show. Caterpillar is extending the autonomous technology that's been used on some of its mining equipment for years to the rest of its lineup. For machines with an operator in the cab, the company is rolling out an on-board AI program designed to quickly train those with limited experience driving bulldozers and excavators.
