Market Chatter: Honda Motor Delays China Production Due to Chip Shortage

MT Newswires Live01-05

Honda Motor (HMC) will extend production halt at three car plants in China by an additional two weeks due to a semiconductor shortage, Reuters reported Monday

The report said the factories, operated in partnership with Guangzhou Automobile Group, had been scheduled to resume production on Monday, but are now expected to start on Jan. 19.

The disruption comes amid delays in chip shipments from Nexperia, a Dutch subsidiary of China's Wingtech, Reuters said.

Honda Motor did not immediately respond to MT Newswires request for comment.
