Microchip Technology's Raised Outlook Seen As Hopeful Sign For Analog Sector -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-06

1054 ET - Microchip Technology's updated F3Q net sales outlook of about $1.19 billion "could potentially serve as a bellwether for the broader analog space," according to Stifel in a note. The analysts say the company's recovery spans several end markets, suggesting a return to healthier inventory levels across the industry. The analysts also cite December ISM data showing customer inventory levels dipping into "too low" territory. "This tightening supply, coupled with recent price hikes announced by key analog peers, signals an increase in pricing power within the analog sector," they write. Microchip Technology surges 9.6%.
