Australia's consumer price index (CPI) rose 3.4% in the 12 months to November 2025, easing from a 3.8% increase in the year to October 2025, the Australian Bureau of Statistics reported Wednesday.
The largest contributors to annual inflation were housing, up 5.2%, followed by food and non-alcoholic beverages, which rose 3.3%, and transport, which grew 2.7%.
"Trimmed mean inflation was 3.2% in the 12 months to November 2025, down from 3.3% in the 12 months to October 2025", said Michelle Marquardt, the bureau's head of prices statistics.
Annual goods inflation eased to 3.3% in the year to November 2025, down from 3.8% in October 2025, largely due to electricity prices rising almost 20%, compared with over 37% previously, while annual services inflation slowed to 3.6% from 3.9%, driven by weaker domestic holiday travel, per the report.
Annual transport inflation remained unchanged at 2.7% in November 2025, while automotive fuel prices rose 3.5%, up from 1.9% in October 2025.
Fruit and vegetable prices rose 2.7% in the 12 months to November 2025, up from a 1.8% growth in October 2025, while meat and seafood prices climbed 3.9% over the same period, the report added.
