ABC-Mart (TYO:2670) saw overall sales grow 0.2% year-on-year in December, supported by a strong Christmas shopping season and year-end promotions, according to a Tuesday filing on the Tokyo Stock Exchange.
Existing stores, however, posted a 0.4% decline compared with the same month last year, partly affected by one fewer Sunday in the month and slow customer traffic early in December due to poor weather.
Collaboration sneakers and apparel drove sales growth, while the retailer opened three new stores during the month, bringing the total store count to 1,095.
