Tower Semiconductor (TSEM) said Monday it will collaborate with LiDAR technology company LightIC to expand its silicon photonics foundry platform into physical artificial intelligence and automotive applications.
Under the strategic collaboration, Tower said its silicon photonics platform will support LightIC's frequency-modulated continuous-wave LiDAR products.
The company also said that the collaboration will combine its silicon photonics manufacturing platform with LightIC's silicon photonic design capabilities, enabling more optical integration and improving size, weight, power, and cost.
Tower Semiconductor shares were up more than 4% in recent Monday premarket activity.
