Terrestrial Energy Inc. has announced a new partnership with the U.S. Department of Energy to construct and operate Project TETRA, a pilot reactor utilizing Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) technology.
Shares of Terrestrial Energy surged 32.76% on the news.
This initiative, part of the DOE's Advanced Reactor Pilot Program, aims to accelerate the development, licensing, and commercialization of IMSR plants. The company’s commercial IMSR plant is designed to produce 822 MWth (390 MWe) of clean, flexible energy for electricity generation and industrial heat applications. The project leverages a high-temperature molten salt fuel design and uses readily available SALEU fuel, enabling rapid scalability and strengthening supply security for future energy needs.
