Pop Mart Likely to Shift Focus as Labubu Novelty Fades -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-06

0935 GMT - The novelty surrounding Pop Mart's Labubu may have peaked for now, pending the next viral hit, Citi analysts say in a note. The focus for Pop Mart has shifted to generating sustained value from its intellectual property, they say. Pop Mart is building a new path for its IPs that emphasizes aesthetic appeal and emotional connection rather than narrative and function. "We expect Pop Mart to continue to navigate the structural emotional consumption and kidult trend globally," they say. Beyond Labubu, Pop Mart's other iconic IPs, including Twinkle Twinkle, are emerging as new growth drivers, they say, adding that Pop Mart could have five to 10 top-performing IPs to support steady growth. Pop Mart's shares last closed 1.7% higher at HK$199.50. (sherry.qin@wsj.com)
