Market Chatter: CATL's Electric Shipping Arm Delivers 900 Units, General Manager Says

Contemporary Amperex Technology or CATL (SHE:300750, HKG:3750) has so far delivered 900 electric-powered ships through subsidiary Contemporary Amperex Electric Ship Technology (CAES), Nikkei Asia reported Tuesday, citing general manager Su Yiyi.

CAES develops products for electric-powered ships, including batteries and control systems, according to the report.

Among the goals of CAES is to commercialize batteries for long-haul ship voyages and oceangoing vessels, the report said.

Trials will be possible "within the next three years or so," Nikkei Asia said, citing Su.
