Stellantis and Volkswagen Could Guide For a Better 2026 -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-09

0956 GMT - Stellantis and Volkswagen look most likely among the automakers to guide for improved operations in 2026, with scope to surprise on strategic decisions, Jefferies says. The bank expects Stellantis to start rebuilding market share and earnings while re-establishing strategic priorities and resetting capital allocation. Progress at Volkswagen has been slow, but its Audi and Porsche bands should no longer detract while cash conversion and portfolio decisions emerge as positive drivers for 2026, it adds. The bank thinks BMW and Mercedes-Benz will announce flat guidance, while Renault and Porsche both screen as likely to guide to lower underlying margins. Stellantis shares rise 2.4% and Volkswagen shares rise 1.9%. Porsche, BMW and Mercedes shares are all 1.3% higher. Renault shares rise 0.7%. (dominic.chopping@wsj.com)
