1649 GMT - Universal Music Group will strike more artificial-intelligence deals that can benefit its artists, Chief Executive Lucian Grainge writes in a New Year memo to staff. "UMG will continue--as we have with every prior technological innovation--to lead in AI initiatives and sit at the big table where we can help shape the future of music," he says. The company behind Lady Gaga and Taylor Swift has entered into AI-related agreements with platforms such as YouTube, Meta, TikTok and KDDI as well as with emerging AI companies like Udio, BandLab, Soundlabs, KLAY Vision, Splice and Stability AI, he notes.
