Image credit: CnEVPost)\nXpeng's (NYSE: XPEV, HKG: 9868) flying car unit Aridge has confidentially filed for a Hong Kong initial public offering (IPO), with a share sale potentially happening as early as this year, Bloomberg reported today citing people familiar with the matter.\nThe company has selected JPMorgan and Morgan Stanley to prepare for the flying car business's listing, the sources said, according to the report.\nAridge originated in 2013 and was formally established in 2020 as a technology division majority-owned by Guangzhou-based Xpeng and its chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng.\n\n\nJoin us on \nTelegram\n or \nGoogle News\n\n\nOriginally named Xpeng Aeroht, it was renamed Aridge in October 2025.\nThe new name combines \"Air\" and \"Bridge,\" symbolizing \"a bridge connecting the sky and the earth,\" representing the company's vision to become a global leader in low-altitude flight product innovation, it said on October 12, 2025.\nAridge's most recent funding round was in July 2025, when it completed a $250 million Series B financing.\nIn June 2025, it appointed Du Chao, who spent 10 years at Deutsche Bank, as its inaugural CFO (chief financial officer), a move seen as preparation for accelerating its IPO.\nDu graduated from the University of Hong Kong and led dozens of overseas listing financings and cross-border M&A projects during his decade at Deutsche Bank.\nAt its Tech Day event on October 24, 2023, Xpeng said its flying car development path would include eVTOL (Electric Vertical Takeoff and Landing) flying cars and modular flying cars.\nThe complete modular flying car system comprises a flying car unit and a mother vehicle capable of recharging it.\nAridge has established a flying car factory in Guangzhou, aiming for modern assembly line production with deliveries targeted to begin in 2026.\nAt its 2025 AI Day last November, Xpeng officially unveiled Aridge's new product, the A868.
