0811 GMT - The Asian electronics sector's upturn is set to continue in 2026, HSBC analysts say in a note. They point to the Trump administration's authorization of Nvidia H200 chip shipments to China in December as a pivotal development, which should accelerate China's AI advancement and high-end electronics growth. "While geopolitical risks remain, the incentives for stability in both Beijing and Washington suggest that US tech restrictions are unlikely to tighten abruptly in the near term," HSBC adds. Strong global AI demand continues to support Taiwanese and South Korean exports, though HSBC says the narrowness of the AI-driven upcycle only benefits a small group of exporters. The broader economic spillover is likely less pronounced than headline figures suggest. The bank also views Vietnam as a secondary beneficiary of the upcycle. (jason.chau@wsj.com)
