Shake Shack Looks to Cut Down on Cooking Times With New Equipment -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-13

1414 ET - Shake Shack is working to improve its cooking process and equipment to boost speed, Chief Operations Officer Stephanie Sentell says at a conference. In the back half of last year, the burger chain started rolling out new equipment that allowed it to hold fries at a much hotter temperature, and is now looking at pieces of equipment like ovens, which could cook bacon to save room for burgers on the restaurant's grills, Sentell says. "We're looking at all sorts of other types of equipment as well that can not only improve our operation, but also open the aperture from a culinary perspective," she says, adding the company could expect to see additional innovation in the back half of this year.
