Shake Shack Expects Gains from Supply Chain Changes -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-13

1408 ET - Shake Shack expects to benefit from shifts in its supply chain, Chief Operations Officer Stephanie Sentell says at a conference. Just a few months ago, the burger chain relied on a single supplier for a number of its key ingredients, Sentell says. Now, it's working to bring in new suppliers to promote competition within its supply chain, which should help its results, she says. The tactic is also helping the company to cut down on transit times, meaning products will be fresher when they arrive at restaurants, she says. "While sometimes competition can be a dirty word, I think it's a really positive thing for our business," she says. (kelly.cloonan@wsj.com)
