Cava named Doug Thompson as its next chief operations officer, bringing on a restaurant industry veteran to lead its operations and field teams.

Thompson's appointment is effective March 2, the fast-casual Mediterranean chain said Monday.

Thompson succeeds Jennifer Somers, who stepped down from the role in September. Jonathan Braatvedt, senior vice president of operations, temporarily assumed the role on an interim basis.

Thompson was most recently chief executive of Tumble 22 Texas Chicken Joint, a fried chicken concept. He previously spent more than two decades at Texas Roadhouse in roles including chief operations officer and VP of Operations. He also previously worked at Carrabba's Italian Grill and Outback Steakhouse.

Thompson has a track record of scaling brands and developing talent, Cava said. He will oversee Cava's restaurant operations and field teams as it continues to expand across the country, the company said.
