1100 ET - Shopify's "light-asset model" is uniquely positioned for the possible arrival of Agentic Commerce, says TD Cowen's John Shao. In a report, the analyst says the company appears poised for the shift to when AI systems handle more of the shopping journey for online shoppers. What's more, the Universal Commerce Protocol announcement and partnership with Google will elevate Shopify's role to become the creator of a brand-new industry standard that could widen Shopify's influence across the ecosystem, he says, but cautions that adoption is still in the early stages.
