General Motors (GM) Chief Executive Mary Barra said that electric vehicles will eventually take off in the US, albeit at a longer timeframe due to the removal of incentives, multiple media outlets reported Monday, citing the executive's speech at an Automotive Press Association event.
The Trump administration's regulatory changes have pushed the company to quickly revise its product plans, reducing investments in electric vehicles and pivoting to combustion-engine models, the outlets, including Reuters, cited Barra as saying.
Barra said General Motors will maintain flexibility to shift production in case regulations shift again in future administrations, according to the reports.
The company did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
