Alibaba's (HKG:9988) AI and cloud computing unit, Alibaba Cloud, said its Qwen family of artificial intelligence models has surpassed 700 million downloads on Hugging Face as of January, the South China Morning Post reported.

Research published by consultancy AIBase, citing data from Hugging Face, showed that Qwen's downloads in December alone exceeded the combined total of the next eight most popular models on the platform, according to the report.

Those included models from Meta Platforms and OpenAI, as well as Chinese developers Zhipu AI (HKG:2513), Moonshot AI, and MiniMax (HKG:0100).
