Alphabet's (GOOG, GOOGL) YouTube is set to enter a major deal with British broadcaster BBC, which will make programs for the platform for the first time, the Financial Times reported Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.
The BBC-produced shows for YouTube will subsequently be featured on its own iPlayer and Sounds platforms, the unnamed sources told the publication.
The content deal between the parties could be announced as early as next week, the FT reported.
The BBC has previously used YouTube mostly for trailers and clips to promote its shows in the UK, according to the report.
The BBC declined to comment, while Google didn't immediately respond to MT Newswires' request.
