Trump's Greenland Ambitions Could Trigger Orders for a Handful of European Arms Makers -- Market Talk

Dow Jones01-16

0919 GMT - BAE Systems, Dassault Aviation, Rheinmetall and Thales are the best-positioned European defense groups to capture orders from European members of NATO and Denmark, Bernstein analysts say. The Nordic country is ramping up its military spending and has come under mounting pressure as President Trump reiterates his desire to annex Greenland, they note. Recent orders from Denmark show an intention to buy more from European manufacturers, despite some purchases of drones, aircraft and missiles from the U.S., they say. Thales grows 2.2%, BAE Systems is up 1.8%, Dassault Aviation gains 1.4%, and Rheinmetall advances 0.6%. (cristina.gallardo@wsj.com)
