Market Chatter: Rio Tinto Working With JPMorgan, UBS, Evercore in Glencore Acquisition Bid

MT Newswires Live01-13

Rio Tinto (RIO) has engaged investment banking firm Evercore, which bought London boutique Robey Warshaw last year, and JPMorgan Chase (JPM) in its bid to acquire Glencore, Bloomberg reported Tuesday, citing sources with knowledge of the matter.

The mining giant is also working with UBS Group (UBS), which is one of its corporate brokers, and Macquarie Group, the report said.

Citigroup (C), which has worked with Rio Tinto on some of its recent transactions, has been trying to get involved in the deal, the report said.

Macquarie declined to comment, while the other companies did not immediately reply to a request for comment from MT Newswires.
